Kathmandu, March 31: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed concern over the preparation being made by the government to appoint judges to the high court through an ordinance.
In a telephone call to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday, the leader of the main opposition party in the parliament Mr Deuba said his party would not accept any such ordinance. Following reports that the Government was preparing to transform the appellate courts into high courts and appoint judges through an ordinance, leader Deuba requested Prime Minister Oli to immediately stop any such act.
Leader Deuba also made a telephone call to ruling party UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and urged him to immediately postpone the ordinance procedures, according to Deuba’s aide Bhanu Deuba.
