‘CPN (UML) ready for national consensus government’

Kathmandu, June 3: Leaders of the CPN (UML) have said their party was always ready for national consensus government.
At a news conference organised to make the decisions on the formation of departments in the party here Friday, they stressed that there should be common understanding among major political parties for the implementation of the new constitution. For this, national consensus was need of hour, they argued.

General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel said, “Consensus can be forged for the leadership under the Chairman of the CPN Maoist Centre or of NC or of CPN (UML).”
Stressing that there was no doubt in the CPN (UML) to move ahead for consensus, leader Pokharel, however, said that he was unaware about the gentlemen agreement.
Similarly, senior leader of the CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal said the common understanding was necessary among major political parties as the new constitution has reached to its implementation phase.
Khanal said, “Consensus and common understanding reached among major political parties from peace process and constitution promulgation is also necessary for the implementation of the new constitution. Such consensus was formed among us.”
Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) has formed central departments. A taskforce was formed under the leadership of General Secretary Pokharel comprising Secretaries—Prithvi Subba Gurung and Gokarna Bista for the same.
The taskforce has formed 31 departments, added Pokharel.

KP Sharma Oli and Madhav Kumar Nepal have been named the Chief of the Party School Department and the Foreign Affairs respectively.
Similarly, the Party has named Surendra Pandey as the chief of finance and Plans department, Bishunu Prasad Rimal of finance department and Mukunda Neupane for industry and commerce.
It was also shared that Ghanendra Basnet was named the chief of consumer rights protection and good governance department and Thakur Gaire of agriculture and land reforms department.
Pradeep Nepal has been named the chief of hydro resources and energy department, Raghuji Pant as the chief of law and justice department, Rajendra Prasad Pandey as the election department and Surya Thapa as the chief of tourism promotion department.
Likewise, Yogesh Bhattarai has been named for the publicity department, Khashinath Adhikari for the library and archives department, Dr Bijaya Kumar Poudel as the physical infrastructure and transportation management department.
Karna Bahadur Thapa has been named the chief of youth and sports and Bhim Prasad Acharya as the chief of royal affairs department.
The Party has named Tul Bahadur Gurung as the chief of national interest security promotion department, Nagendra Chaudhary as the chief of forest and environment department, Dr Bansidhar Mishra as the chief of science and technology department, Gangadhar Tuladhar as the chief of education and human resources department and Prithivi Subba Gurung as the chief of organization department.
Moreover, the Party has named Shreemaya Thakali as the chief of urban development department, Pashupati Chaulagain as the chief of cooperatives and poverty alleviation department, Prakash Jwala as the chief of labor and employment, Parashumeghi Gurung of federal affairs department.
Subashchandra Nembang has been named chief of parliamentary department, Khagendra Rai of the culture department, Dr Bijaya Subba of the social service, Mamata Giri of the general administration, Kiran Gurung as the local development department and Sujita Shakya as the chief of health and population department.
